Being in the middle of the country it is often difficult to find good seafood places. Newport Grill is close to the top of that list. The menu includes many of the traditional choices along with some good alternatives. This is not a "fried food" place. Prices are good given the quality and the size of the portion. They also have a good wine list and evening happy hour.

This place is without a doubt the best spot in southern KC! Food was excellent and the service was on another level. We showed up for drinks and a quick drink and Jake gave us the best service we've had in years! I highly recommend the oysters, bacon wrapped dates, and the surf and turf Oscar style!!!!! Get here ASAP!!!!!

So my friends started a dinner club a few months ago to try a new restaurant every month. I was never able to go for various reasons...until last night. This month's restaurant was Newport Grill. I had been wanting to try it for awhile but have heard mixed reviews so I didn't know what to expect. I have heard the portions were small to begin with but ordering from the Restaurant Week menu means even smaller portions! Ok, so now let's get to the actual food. I ended up ordering the calamari, barramundi with polenta and brulee potatoes from the RW menu. The calamari was probably my least favorite calamari I have eaten. There was no flavor at all. The cajun aioli was ok. The marinara used to dip tasted generic. I asked for ranch and that made it taste a smidge better, but still wasn't able to help me finish it. The fish was....edible. The portion was definitely on the small side. I really liked the sides! The waitress suggested the brulee potatoes and man those were delicious! Because there were so many people, I was also able to sample a little bit of everything. I liked the rock shrimp cigars and Short rib pappardelle - I wasn't sure about trying it because of the blue cheese but it wasn't strong at all. Service was great. Everyone was very attentive. We had an issue with one of the salmon dishes being overcooked and the waitress took care of it right away. Anytime our water or cocktails would run low, she would be right there. Overall, it was a decent experience. I'm not rushing to go back anytime soon, but I'm willing to give it another chance (maybe for Sunday brunch because I've heard good things and I got a $5 off coupon on the receipt). The things I would recommend to anyone who decides to eat here would be the bread (which they bring out anyway so I guess people would try it, but man it is now my favorite bread), the brulee potatoes, and the almond cookie crisp that came with the bread pudding. Everything else was mediocre and is done better elsewhere for half the price.

Free valet parking is a huge plus! We went on a Saturday night with 2 other couples. It is a little pricey but the atmosphere & food presentation make you feel you are in a nice place and getting your $ worth - and the food was delicious! Our server was very knowledgeable and helped me with ordering - I had sea bass and would absolutely order again!

Located in the artsy hip Prairie Fire area, this restaurant's fare does not disappoint! The decor is upscale and contemporary but warm and comfortable. The Seafood is all fresh and flown in from the best locations-Maryland crab, Rhode Island calamari, Hawaiian monchong and baramundi are a few examples. The calamari and ahi tuna appetizers were sublime! The desserts included the lightest beignets filled with scrumptious dark chocolate, a cheesecake, a bread pudding and some other delightful sweets including some dessert cocktails. The wait staff were efficient and very knowledgeable but a bit pushy/ cocky. Do use the valet parking so that you can spend more time enjoying the extensive assortment of wine. Only one of the diners at our table had a beef selection, the filet Oscar which was cooked to perfection as were all our entrees. The scallops were some of the best I have ever tasted! Even the bread and butter were great! They do have a bar where you may dine if you prefer and they can also accommodate large groups in the main dining room.

Since moving to KC we've had a year and a half to sample the seafood restaurant scene and we've done a good job scouting around. Having been to this spot a number of times, it's time to go 'on-record.' This is for a lunch visit on a Saturday afternoon. Over my long career I've had the benefit of having exposure to some of the finest restaurants in the world: Melbourne, London, Paris, Madrid, Zurich, Hong Kong, Singapore and more. The one cuisine-pillar that Newport Grill most closely reminds me of is the Oyster Bar of NYC, in the base of Grand Central Terminal in NYC. There, I gained a seminal education in fresh seafood. There I learned to love fresh seafood of all types, and the many varieties of oysters. Each variety is slightly or startlingly different from each other in flavor, size, texture, brine, and moisture. So little time and so many of them to love--but that's another story entirely! I am now on record proclaiming that MY choice for the Midwestern version of 'Oyster Bar' is Newport Grill off 135th Street in OP. While the number of varieties of oysters and FRESH seafood don't match the double digit numbers available in NYC, for this part of the world the offering is exceptional. Continuing on Oysters (Fish, Menu and Service observations coming) they change daily being flown in fresh each day. This day we enjoyed four varieties from US coasts and Canada: Kusshi, Grand Duxbury, Island Creek and Copp's Island. All had different elements of mineral, salt, sea-taste and size. (West coast are smaller, East coast are larger.) You may choose preparations of 'Rockefeller' style, or simply raw--swimming in their own liquor. We had the latter, and served with a great red vinaigrette, or traditional cocktail sauce which you concoct of supplied ingredients served with the oysters. (Crackers and bread by request.) SEAFOOD: Flown in fresh too, and arrayed from all over the globe. This day we could choose from fish from Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Pacific and Atlantic US. All of it was as fresh as that served at Oyster Bar I'm sure and (imagine this)..in the middle of America (thank you Jet delivery service!). I chose swordfish because (a) it reminds me of my grandfather (b) it's a mini-lesson in what real ocean fish tastes like--meaty, flavorful but not overdone, and steak-like. It was simply served (my choice--you can get blackened) with side sauce. I like my fish simple to let the freshness and expert preparation ring through, but they offer a number of side sauces appropriate for the variety. While I wanted basic grilled Swordfish, I chose their take on 'Tzatziki' sauce. It proved to be a great spark to each bite. TIP: (To try a sauce, ask for it on the side, that way you can taste your fish without and with and decide on your own!) My wife had the Mahi Mahi (blackened) which too, was superb both in product quality and preparation and plating. The luncheon entrees are afforded two sides. I chose spaghetti squash and FRESH English peas...(they were). My wife Polenta and squash. All in all, a huge amount of food for the price. Now about cocktails and service: While we didn't meet the head chef (for both Newport and Paradise Grill) Kevin, we did hear about the great way in which he runs his kitchen and cultivates the kitchen staff. We did meet the Sous Chef, as he came out to say goodbye to the wait staff as he left for the day. His name is Jimmy and he was the one who prepared our individual meals which were exceptional and artistically plated. Drew was our server/bartender who was both personable and professional, and introduced us to the Mixologist/Alchemist Josh who moved over from the Wichita location to create exciting new cocktails. Boy is it underway! Currently they are prepping their own coffee bean and vanilla infused Vodka, and no less than three other concoctions. On our visit he was experimenting with a red-pear vodka inspiration. It featured muddled red pear, Grey Goose Pear, a touch of freshly grated nutmeg, and much more! Delicious (especially in the upcoming warm/hot weather). Crowning touch were the very thin slices of ripe red pair served within the cocktail. Saving the best for last is the General Manager who watches unobtrusively, all aspects of his business with an eye on the customer experience, Joe Wilcox. (I asked for his card to pass along.) We're already planning the next adventure at the Newport Grill! There's so much to explore as the menu is constantly evolving, and so many more food and drink adventures to enjoy!

Lots of room for improvement! We came the first time and it was much better. Our second time needs help. We sat outside on the rooftop bar. It was after Happy Hour. They should not have the Happy Hour menu and the non Happy hour menu on the same menu. When we got our first drink. We both ordered wine. The waiter came in a hurry and slid our drinks on the table and about 10% of my drink sloshed on me on my pants, oops sorry. That was rude and not OK. Then when we ordered 2 black and blue Martinis. (Dirty Martinis with blue cheese olives) they came in short wine glasses with pimento stuffed olives, I said where is my martini glass and my blue cheese olives? The waitress said we might be out? I told her to go check. She left and 5 minutes later came back with our blue cheese stuffed olives. She was too lazy to run downstairs and get our olives. Same with the salt and pepper for our meal. They serve Merlot in tall glasses but not Martinis in martini glasses? Strange. They serve beer in a can. The roof top bar needs some work. It is too expensive to be uncouth.

Atmosphere is wonderful. Service is horrible. Food is just ok for me. Not worth the price. Not sure who made the great decision to have just one server on rooftop. Watched many people come and go just because no one waited on them. Shrimp appetizer was really more like chewy prawns. Pass. Drinks also also WAY over priced. Only thing good about them is Atlantic Express.

What a classy joint, and I've only experienced Happy Hour. The fresh oysters were a big treat for this Midwest girl and the Smoke and Fire drink had a good kind of kick. Thanks, Ronnie, for the over the top service. I'm bringing The Girls back soon!

Only good thing about my experience was that it took Open Table reservations. Lump Crab cake for $16 was not a lump crab cake. It was flat and not very tasty. Get better cakes at Hen House and $16 was overcharged for appetizer. Next had the worst Fish Taco's ever. Huge Tortilla but could not find the fish and the cabbage and dressing was weird. Not tasty. Fries were the good and best part of this dish. Had the Mahi Mahi to go and ordered the side Blackened scallop w/beure blanc . Got charged for it byt never got the scallop. Brulee potatoes were best part of this dish. Service was OK, my ice tea glass was empty but since they left a bottle of water at the table ( nice touch ) was able to get some refreshment. This is definitely not in the class of Bristol's or Bonefish Grill and would not waste my money here to get some good seafood.. Avoid and go to them instead.

We ate here the first time this week to celebrate my birthday. Even though it was 3 days ago, I am still seeing the very lovely presentation of my perfectly cooked filet! It was truly one of the best if not THE best steak I have ever eaten. The individual potato casserole was a wonderful compliment to the steak. My husband had a wonderful salmon with crab ravioli. We were very impressed with everything we were served. Everyone was so friendly and tried very hard to please and our server was Sarah who was one of the very best!. It was an awesome dining experience and we highly recommend the Newport Grill!

My wife and I are a Bristol regular for Sunday brunch, however I was looking for a change this week. Newport grill has the makings of a great brunch location. They are experiencing the typical issues for a new restaurant.....young wait staff (eating/drinking in plain view of the customer), disorganization (missing utensils) (long periods of refills for coffee), cold buffet temps......these bugs will work themselves out with the right leadership. They do have some major plusses in their favor though.......lots of sea food, food is staged beautifully, lots of fresh fruit, management that appears to really care about the customer. I'd say, give it a shot if your a Bristol customer....who knows, you may have found a nice new restaurant to enjoy a Sunday brunch with some friends!

Went on a Thursday evening for happy hour drinks and apps. The restaurant was empty except for 4 others at the bar which is where we sat as well. The bartender was prompt to help us and very friendly. The signature cocktail and martini menu did not have any drink descriptions so our bartender was nice enough to describe each one to me. I settled on the Rosemary lemonade because it is a drink I make at home and contained my two favs; citron and st germain. The sour mix was a little strong for me but overall it was pretty good. We had oysters and petite lobster from the happy hour menu and were very reasonably priced. I am not a fan of oysters at all but I reluctantly tried one. It was ok but to my oyster loving date, he thought they were great. The lobster was good and enough to satisfy my hunger even at only 2 ounces. Overall a pretty good experience and wonderful bartender. The dessert and after dinner drink menu looked amazing so we will definitely be back to try it out!

To be fair we only came in for drinks and an appetizer before the movie but the appetizer we had was terrible. We ordered bacon wrapped dates because I love those. They were inedible. Service wasn't great. The parking in that place is horrible. I don't understand why they builty prairie fire they way they did. This is KANSAS!!! We have plenty of land and we want to be able to park at the restaurant or shop we are going to! Not in a garage and walk 2 or 3 blocks. I know several stores have already opened and closed there due to poor traffic.

Restaurant week disappointment. We were looking forward to a great dinner out last night. There were four of us and our server was awesome. What wasn't was the portions that they served for the restaurant week menu. The fish portions couldn't have been bigger than 4 ounces. My girlfriend got asparagus as a side and there were 2 spears! Not the greatest way to get people to come back....we won't. Proves that the Bristol is still the best seafood down south.

This is a gem to find! We are new to the area, came in for a light, late lunch...not sure what to expect. We had Crab cake appetizer and split Clam Chowder and the French Dip sandwich. Everything was unbelievably delicious! Service was excellent thanks to our server Jordan. We will be back!!

My husband and I just left this establishment for brunch. Our usual is Bristol because we love seafood and their waffles are like little fluffy clouds. The hostess was great and was friendly when we arrived and we were seated immediately. Unfortunately that's when everything went south. Being new to this establishment we waited almost 10 minutes for a server to even come ask us for a drink and wasn't sure whether we could head to the buffet. The cold bar was pretty good but in the midst of our second plate the waiter not only had not refilled our drinks but brought our check. I would understand if the place was busy but half the restaurant was empty. I put the check folder to the side of our table and went to get dessert. By the end of our meal we had four cups on our table and a pile of dishes at a two person booth. The service was horrible although other waiters other than ours seemed to be more attentive. The ceviche was great and the Brussels sprouts amazing. It was a diverse selection but not good enough for me to overlook the worst service I have ever had.

My family and I just came in here to have Sunday morning brunch. This restaurant offers a buffet Sunday mornings with a lot of different foods that are all really delicious! The atmosphere was really fancy but comfortable and the servers (a younger gentleman with black-rimmed glasses and a girl who mentioned this was her first time working that shift) were really attentive and polite. They offered a sparkling wine with different juices for larger groups which was a really great deal. I am now happily stuffed and will definitely try to make it out there more often!
Fish comes from the fabulous fish company (huge nationwide chain), the Bloody Mary mix is zing zing and they claim to make it in house. Wine pricing was not even close to other restaurants in the area (160 For Caymus) The bartenders don't know much about making drinks(couldn't even make me a White Russian.) The waiter kept trying to up sell us on everything. They really just seemed like they are very deceiving to their customers. Beignets were great though! I would recommend Bristol over New Port any day for seafood!

The restaurant looked nice, so we thought we'd try it out this evening. We ordered a hummus appetizer w/ vegetables, ahi tuna, and scallops. The food was mediocre at best, especially considering how much they charge; the bill was almost $90. First of all, the hummus was thick, pasty, tasteless, and lumpy, although the vegetables and presentation were good. The ahi tuna was tasteless, as if it had not even been seasoned. And the quality of the fish was poor. While the scallops were ok for the most part, they were ordered with a pear sauce that was virtually non-existent. There were literally drops of the sauce on the plate. Couldn't even taste it. Finally, we had to ask our server to refill our drinks, something you don't expect when you are at an establishment that charges this much and expects 20-25% tips for their servers. A server should routinely check drink levels and refill them without the customer asking. Finally, the restaurant was dead. This speaks volumes to how the city must feel about their food. We won't be back.

Bobbi T. (below) is a good friend of mine and is a part of the same Dinner Club that I'm in, so I'm going to add my take on this restaurant. Hopefully, I don't repeat anything she has already been touched on. Being from Wichita, KS I never had the opportunity to try the Newport Grill there so I was very excited to try the one up here in KC for Restaurant Week. I will only review the items I've ordered as well as the service received and ambiance. My roommate reserved a large table for us, 12 to be exact, for our January Dinner Club. 11 of 12 people were able to make it so I would say that's a success because this is the largest Dinner Club we've had thus far since we started it back in August. When we walked in, we clearly had the largest table, and there was an iPad sitting there with a digital menu of the drinks. Nice touch. We all had a go at viewing what was on there. The servers were nice, and as prompt as they could be, although our food took a while to come out. I can't fault them for this because we did have 11 people in our party. First things first, drinks right? I had the Black & Blue, for those of you who don't know what that is, it's a Dirty Martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives. I love bleu cheese stuffed olives. Drink was A+ for having the right amount of olive juice and for being a stiff one, just how I like it. I looked at the RW menu and was eyeing the Trout Amandine. My friend and I didn't care for the dessert offered as a part of the RW deal, so we decided to order the full entree size of what was on that menu and then split an appetizer, just so we could get more for our money. She opted for the Short Rib Pappardelle. Our Jumbo Lump Crab Cake that we split was delicious. It tasted like it had a hint of Asian seasonings in it, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. My Trout Amandine was just meh, I could taste too much flour in it, but the cous cous that came with it was quite good. My friend's short ribs were pretty good, soft and easy to eat, not chewy. As my friend Bobbi T. said, I am not in a rush to come back, unless a friend wants to do a nice fancy dress-up birthday dinner here.

Finally, a truly classy restaurant operated by a world-class restaurateur arrives in southern Johnson County crowded with establishments that proclaim loudly of "superb dining". But the fact of the matter is that none of them are. Thanks rePaul Khoury for bringing this gem to the neighborhood. The food here is so fresh as if one is by the shore! The ambience is magnificent. The service is impeccable. Dining here is truly a memorable experience.

Went to eat here last night and was a little disappointed they were shutdown for a wedding, but went Over to paradise and they were offering both menus! My husband went with the trout and I went for the KC Strip. The salads we started with weren't anything spectacular but our entrees were amazing! It was the best steak I have had in a long time! So delicious!! Cooked perfectly! The price is a little high but the portions were very large. They were quite busy but service was great too, when our server wasn't available others came over to help. I was surprised the manager didn't come over to ask us how we were, probably because they were so busy. All in all great experience and food!

We had the filet and the short rib pasta. The filet was "ok". The short rib pasta was delicious but after a couple of bites, the blue cheese was overpowering. Nice ambiance and decent service.

We dined at Newport Grill on Labor Day - several of our friends had raved about the food and we wanted to see if the fuss was justified. It was. Our server was extremely well trained and knowledgeable about the menu, and made several suggestions for us. He told us how their seafood was flown in daily from the coasts, and that the menu changes daily. My husband had the sea bass and I had the steak. We both had the clam chowder, which was probably the best I've ever had. The texture was like silk, and the flavor was perfect. Both entrees were also incredible-cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. I'm a foodie, and it is rare that I give a restaurant 5 stars, but this place really deserved it.

Spent about three hours here with my friends for a 40th birthday party...I can't even tell you how amazing this place is! Nick (our server) was such a great guy...he might actually be my new best friend! The family style appetizer platter was perfectly sized for our party of 7 and the pork chop (which we hear was recently added) was out of this world! On top of the excellent food, Paul (the owner) made the rounds to EVERY SINGLE table ensuring the food was as it should be. Class act, Newport Grill! Highly recommend this place!

This is adjacent to the Paradise Diner and offers the selection of dishes from either menu. The diner was very busy and we opted to sit in the Newport Grill. The decor is very nice and tastefully done. Quiet and great for conversation. Our server was very good and several people stopped by the booth to ask if we were enjoying our meal. The food...we were both torn between a salad and sandwich. Our server suggested we do the half and half. Great idea! Perfect. We both had the turkey Reuben. Excellent. I had the cobb salad. Outstanding. Fresh ingredients. Just the right amount of dressing. Yum. Yum. They offer a choice of waters which was really a nice extra touch along with the linen napkins. I highly recommend it and will return!

I love this place. Sometimes being a twenty something you don't get as good of service at places like this but not here. Every time we go it has been great. My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary and had great service. We signed up for the mailing list and get great coupons! I went with my mom and her sisters for a birthday lunch. We were there for two hours and had the best service and the waiter knew just how to interact with my mom and her three sisters. I prefer this to their sister restaurant Ya Ya's now. Every time I go I feel really good about where my money went!

This review is being written from a link on the restaurant's website. I went to the website to send an email but that wasn't an option. This was. Tonight I ordered calamari, it was chewy and without flavor; the sauce - like a sugo - was on the thick and slightly pasty side. I think it spent too long on the stovetop. The Caesar salad was inedible. The salad, which should have a robust flavor, was like eating air. Tasteless. The shrimp on the salad were also without any flavor and so blah you didn't even want to consume those tidbits. I can't figure out how they went to wrong on restaurant staples! The bread and homemade butter were good. The server never asked how the food was even though we clearly left our meal uneaten. This is a PB&J restaurant? So disappointing.

Fantastic Sunday brunch! The variety is outstanding, the food is fresh, the presentation is beautiful, and the service is unparalleled. The seafood selection exceeds that of other restaurants in town and there seems to be something new to try each time we visit. I dream about the brown butter cake and the perfect berries on the dessert spread. We are fish-eating "vegetarians" and LOVE this place. Heading back today, in fact.

Jake was our bartender and he was fantastic! Super friendly and attentive! Great atmosphere and the best happy hour around! Definitely encourage you to visit this place! You will not regret it!
The service was excellent and the atmosphere is great. I didn't feel the food justified the price compared to other places in town.

First time trying out Newport grill. This place continues to confirm to me that the prarie fire area still has a ways till it's personnel in the businesses are up to the level of customer service that we expect to have at the prices we pay there. That being said, we were seated fairly quickly without a reservation. The table setting had four chairs but only three place settings, hostess at least should have picked up on that when they checked on the table prep. The server took a bit to get over to us and even then would come back to us only in spurts. By the third time we actually ordered something. Then the next time we ordered. The communication between the assistant waiter and the primary was not good as they would come out and say mostly the same things. It was kind of like one was coming around for comic relief and to follow up on the service that you have yet to receive. The iPad they brought out for drink orders was just confusing. Not a well executed idea. The device should be presented at the beginning just like any drink menu and to really work with the technology, make sure the device is smoothly presented and the battery is charged. So drinks arrived to the table...3 out if the 4. No preface with saying your drink will be right out to the fourth person. Eventually it got out. Food was served and was proportionally obscure. When it came out I would expect a similar amount of fish on the plate, even if it is different fish. They again brought out three and then later a fourth entree and it was not what was ordered. This was remedied quickly as another communication mistake was made. The steaks were seasoned alright. Not bad but not what you expect for a 50$ steak. The meat was cooked to order on mine but my wife's filet was not cooked to specification. At steakhouses that you pay this price at the waiter will usually have you cut in to make sure that it is cooked how you ordered it. Nope, waiter did not do that. I give this place a 2 merely based on the facade and they served an edible meal. I would however say the end of the meal wrapped up my mind to write this review as the waiter just dropped the check back off and left without saying thank you for coming or anything like that. To anyone wanting to go there, I would wait a while until the service meets the price tag and the food improves with the chef going back to culinary basics (ie. check the temp of the meat).

I normally wouldn't leave a review at all but my experience here was so terrible it has to said. This was my first time trying the Newport Grill and I was super excited since it's fairly close to my house. I ordered the sea bass which came highly recommended by the server. Since I am pregnant I ordered it well done to be on the safe side. When I got it I had a few bites and realized it wasn't cooked at all, in fact it was still extremely cold to the touch. I send it back and they cooked an entire new piece which didn't come until the rest of my table was done eating. I took one bite into the second piece and realized they hadn't deboned this piece as I pulled about 4 bones out of my mouth. I was done at that point and left the restaurant starving and not happy. They did comp my meal but rightfully so since I didn't really get one. I will not be going back.

The service was excellent and the atmosphere is great. I didn't feel the food justified the price compared to other places in town.

(3)Amy M.
(5)Maranda L.

(5)Audrey D.
My husband and I came in last night for the first time. It was incredible. We both got the fixed menu. It came out in three beautiful courses. I had the crispy calamari, the swordfish with a spiced walnut crust, and for dessert the flourless tort! My husband chose New England clam chowder, swordfish with the lemon capers mushroom cream sauce, and for both of our sides we had the asparagus and brûlée potatoes. The portion sizes were good, honestly after the first corse I was full. We shared a bottle of wine. Our water was always filled. Our waiter Fabio, was really what brought the atmosphere and the dinner all together! We will definitely be returning.
(5)Kyle S.
(2)Chris T.

(5)Josh S.
Good food. Beautiful decor and layout. Good service. Good prices. Its kinda the perfect restaurant. Menu could be a little larger but other than that it was great.
(5)T B.

(5)Helen L.
have a eaten here a couple of times, one of our new favorite places in Overland Park. whenever I visit my sister, we go either Wasabi or Newport. I tried pasta and oyster ,very delicious!! highly recommended
(5)Meredith S.

We came here for our anniversary, but sadly I can't leave a review on the food or add any pictures because after 15 minutes of sitting & not seeing out server we left. Not the way we wanted to spend our anniversary dinner.
(1)Elizabeth B.

(5)Candace K.
Jake was our bartender and he was fantastic! Super friendly and attentive! Great atmosphere and the best happy hour around! Definitely encourage you to visit this place! You will not regret it!

Went to the Newport Grill at Prairiefire for the first time. The restaurant decor was very nice, upscale but not stuffy. We started with soup, I had the clam chowder which came out piping hot, but was tasty. My boyfriend had the tomato bisque which he also enjoyed. The staff was very attentive. Within, 10-15 minutes of being seated we had at least 2 managers at our table thanking us for coming in and asking if there was anything they could do to make our dining experience even better. I had the fettuccini with rock shrimp, english peas, and pearl onions. It was very good. My boyfriend ordered the lobster soufflé. We waited about 20 minutes for our entree. However, the nice surprise was that we had multiple managers stop at our table. They apologized for the delay and were honest in that they had to make the soufflé again, because the first one did not turn our right. Before our entrees even got to our table one of the managers/owners came to the table and let is know that dinner was on the house because of the wait. Needless to say the lobster soufflé was worth the wait. This is my first yelp post ever...so you know I had to feel strongly about the food and the fantastic service. I travel quite a bit across the country and I am thrilled that this caliber of a restaurant has made it to Overland Park. We will not hesitate to go back and tell our friends about Newport Grill!
(5)A P.

(5)Justin K.

(5)Shelley H.

Good food. Beautiful decor and layout. Good service. Good prices. Its kinda the perfect restaurant. Menu could be a little larger but other than that it was great.

Highly recommend this place!

have a eaten here a couple of times, one of our new favorite places in Overland Park. whenever I visit my sister, we go either Wasabi or Newport. I tried pasta and oyster ,very delicious!! highly recommended

We came here for our anniversary, but sadly I can't leave a review on the food or add any pictures because after 15 minutes of sitting & not seeing out server we left. Not the way we wanted to spend our anniversary dinner.

The service was excellent and the atmosphere is great. I didn't feel the food justified the price compared to other places in town.
